Europeana and a consortium of four chapters - Wikimedias CH, FR, NL and UK have invested in a mass upload tool to migrate GLAM collections to Wikimedia Commons.

This tutorial will cover when and why to use the GLAM mass upload tool and the issues that need to be discussed when planning a GLAM media release, including:

  • Generating Wikimedia Commons Categories from metadata
  • What copyrights should be used
  • What media files should not be loaded - for example ones where someone else owns the copyright and the museum only has an individual or NC license
  • Summary of case studies
