Abstract (at least 300 words to describe your proposal)
The recent WMF report with analysis of the quantified results of in person editing workshops and training sessions was discouraging, at least as far as continued editing by attendees is concerned. But these sessions are cheap to run, generally popular with attendees, organisers, and external partners, and so are likely to continue to be a common fixture of outreach programs. This gives rise to the following questions:
  • - Should we continue doing them, and under what circumstances?
  • - What target audiences give the best results?
  • - What less tangible benefits can they bring to the projects, other than recruiting new editors?
  • - What less tangible benefits can they bring for the attendees?
  • - Can these be measured? How should they be weighted?
