Talk:Submissions/Fixing grammar errors semi-automatically

From Wikimania 2014 • London, United Kingdom

seems like a discussion of a new bot. If consensus is achieved, the bot could improve content. Geraldshields11 (talk) 19:17, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Technically, it's not a bot, although it could probably be turned into one. I haven't written a bot yet, so I'm not sure how this could work. LanguageTool's suggestions would need to be reviewed manually before the bot makes the change, but if too much time has passed between finding the error and the manual review, the change might not apply anymore. --Dnaber (talk) 07:58, 22 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What would this do that en:Wp:AWB doesn't already do? WereSpielChequers (talk) 22:23, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

LanguageTool is a style and grammar checker for any text, with some special cases added for Wikipedia text, whereas at AWB it seems to be the other way round. Also, LanguageTool is available on a web page (including its Wikipedia integration), so everybody can use it without installing anything. Of course, AWB plugin authors are free to write an AWB plugin that uses LanguageTool. --Dnaber (talk) 17:00, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
