Hope the registration can be started soon

As the confirmation registration for conference is needed for visa application, I hope the registration could be started soon to let us who need to apply a visa to attend Wikimania prepare for our visa application earlier. --Shujenchang (talk) 14:16, 5 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We live in the European Union and we don't need any visas. We're not applying for a grant. We have our plane and hotel booked. But we're a bit disappointed. In Hong Kong registration began (or that's what their web says, I wasn't there) on February 22nd. Now it's April 12th (or February 71st, if you want to put it that way) and no news about registration are to be found. As I've said, we have no problem to get to London, but many other Wikimedians will need the information to apply for their visas (you cannot apply based on something happening at no date). It would be very kind of you to give all of us some information. B25es (talk) 18:58, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It is now May 26 (or February 115th) and still no word. I have not booked my flight or hotel yet, and since this is summer I am getting quite unsettled. I don't want to book and then have the conference not happen. If I am giving a talk, I can get some travel money from my university, but they want this weeks in advance (that is, about now). Can someone give us any idea of when we can expect to hear of the papers are accepted and when we can register? --WiseWoman (talk) 19:15, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Registration is already open. The conference will definitely happen! I gather that reviewing the papers to put together the programme took longer than expected, but you can ask James Forrester or Edward Saperia about acceptance of submissions. - Lawsonstu (talk) 20:34, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
All the session acceptances were finally sent out yesterday. If you submitted a proposal and haven't received an acceptance email yet, there is a chance that people might withdraw and yours is accepted. The programme will start to go up later today. - Lawsonstu (talk) 06:54, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Freeze page

The page links to somewhere where I've to enter my credit card information. Vandalism here would be fatal. -- Rillke (talk) 16:59, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've semi-protected it as a precaution, and done the same thing with the Accommodation page. I'm not going to fully protect pages unless absolutely necessary as there are plenty of non-admins who will need to edit it. CT Cooper · talk 17:10, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hackathon fee

As there is a fee for the hackathon, does that mean lunch is included for those two days? Henna (talk) 15:36, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Henna
Yes lunch is included --John Cummings (WMUK) (talk) 17:49, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have made this clearer on the registration page, as previously it seemed to only say lunch was included on the three conference days. CT Cooper · talk 18:37, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Credit card

Are there going to be any payment options other than by credit card? Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 18:58, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Martijn, no only credit cards are accepted, sorry. --John Cummings (WMUK) (talk) 17:49, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Just be clear, debit cards are fine too as I paid with one. CT Cooper · talk 18:28, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Registration Fees

The linked Eventbrite page gives a registration fee of £45 for the three days as an early bird rate, but no indication of what the regular (after 15 June) fee will be. Please can you say what the fee will be for later registration.

I would prefer to wait until after the full programme comes out, as I will then know what is of interest. I would suggest that the early bird rate remains available until 10 days after the complete programme is published. AlasdairW (talk) 18:48, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@EdSaperia: Do you know what the regular/later registration fees are going to be? CT Cooper · talk 18:40, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
According to the PayPal payment page the costs of regular registration for the three day conference and the three day conference plus the hackathon will be £50.00 and £65.00 respectively. CT Cooper · talk 14:26, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Paypal enabled

Thank you for your patience. Due to popular demand I have created an alternative Eventbrite registration page that will handle Paypal. Additionally, we have extended the Early-Bird price to July 1st, so that those that couldn't pay by credit card are not disadvantaged by missing out. Best --Stuart Prior (WMUK) (talk) 18:21, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Stuart Prior (WMUK): That's great, but currently both the credit/debit card link and the PayPal link seem to go to the same place. Is this intended? The Eventbite sites seems to still only accept cards. CT Cooper · talk 18:31, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This has now been fixed, and the PayPal link goes to a different page with the PayPal payment option. - Lawsonstu (talk) 19:35, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's good. Unfortunately the changes to the page somehow managed to confuse the translation system. In the end, I bit the bullet and re-did the T: numbers from scratch which had become a mess anyway. CT Cooper · talk 21:24, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

T-shirts

I don't believe the question on t-shirt sizes was on the registration form when it was originally opened, as I don't remember specifying a size when I completed the form – I registered quite early on the 8 May. This question is also missing from the registration summary I received by e-mail. If I am correct, what's the plan in regards to people who registered early getting t-shirts? CT Cooper · talk 21:43, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect we'll email you at some point and ask you your shirt size :) EdSaperia (talk) 10:40, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hackathon

Is it still possible to register for the hackathon? --Guerillero (talk) 02:21, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I heard that the hackathon had sold out, can anyone confirm that? - Lawsonstu (talk) 09:46, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
They just added some tickets but (as of right now) ONLY on the PayPal option. GreenReaper (talk) 21:47, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hackathon

I am thoroughly confused. I bought an early bird ticket for the three day conference and opening ceremony on 25/6/14 for £45 and at that time I thought that admission to the Hackathon was included in that. Now it appears from the comments here that I should have paid extra to go to the Hackathon on Thursday. I've gone to the registration page and from what I can see there it seems that I can get a ticket for the Hackathon for the Wednesday only. Is that right?
