Abstract (at least 300 words to describe your proposal)
The Wikimedia Armenia chapter was founded in May, 2013. During its first year, it has organized and participated in various projects and events. The highlights of which are:
  1. Changed copyright law to introduce freedom of Panorama. This has allowed us to:
    • participate in "Wiki loves monuments" project, during which nearly 24,000 photos were uploaded to Wikicommons
    • scan and add to wikisource various Armenian encyclopedias, which has been a source for articles generated by a large community
  2. Various efforts aimed at recruiting editors and contributors of articles
    • We have started an educational program with 6 high schools, resulting in more than 1300 articles created by the students
    • In universities, conducted special trainings for PhD students, so they contribute to Wikipedia
    • Collaborated with the Wikimedia chapters of Ukraine and Estonia, and recruited individuals of Armenian descent to contribute to their corresponding Wikipedia-s.
    • Are in the process of organizing wikicamp for students who are active participants in Armenia and other international chapters
  3. Organized training chapters and wikiclub in various large cities throughout Armenia
  4. Lessons learned will be shared during the presentation
