Talk:Wikisource Meetup

From Wikimania 2014 • London, United Kingdom

Can we do it Friday, August 8?

Folks, I hate saying this, but do we have option of making meetup one day earlier, on Friday, August 8? There's OpenStreetMap 10th anniversary meetup, which will take place globally on Satruday, August 9, inlcuding main event in London, and there are less options of rescheduling. So if haven't set Saturday as the final date, I will apreciate a lot if we can reschedule it, so I won't be torn apart between two events :) Also that will allow us to introduce to each other one day earlier, and we'll have one more day during Wikimania to communicate with each other. --Xelgen (talk) 19:25, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Micru, Aubrey, Tpt and others,
Wikimania is coming ; could we try to get a more precise schedule ? maybe even a room ;)
@Xelgen : why not the 8 but not the evening, I already have the French speaker meetup ; maybe lunch ?

@VIGNERON: On Friday I have the Catalan Meetup, I think it is going to be hard to please everyone... If you want you can start a poll, and whatever option has more votes, we take it.
@EdSaperia: how does it look like with the rooms? Which day would the meetup fit the best according to room availability?--Micru (talk) 06:54, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Micru: we hope to assign meetups to spaces in about two days. It's a surprisingly difficult thing to do because it depends on a lot of other things. EdSaperia (talk) 09:50, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ok guys @Micru, Tpt, Xelgen, Billinghurst, AdamBMorgan: and others, so it's 18:30 at Frobisher 5. Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 11:36, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@VIGNERON: what day? Thanks for arranging :) --Xelgen (talk) 11:45, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Xelgen: still the saturday 9. I'm just the messenger ;) Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 13:14, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That is fine with me. <shuffling things> — billinghurst sDrewth 07:33, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As I understand this, there will probably be two Wikisource Meetups, with one on Friday at 18:30 as well in the same place. It was announced at the 15:00 Panel anyway, so this is an FYI for everyone who wasn't there (@Micru, Tpt, Xelgen, VIGNERON, Aubrey: etc). - AdamBMorgan (talk) 14:45, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure that the room is available at this time? I'm not happy with this duplication of meetup (I'm sure a lot of other people like me have an other meetup at the same time). So I believe that a piece of paper on the door redirecting to the tomorrow meetup should be better. Tpt (talk) 15:17, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Tpt: Not a clue. It was just announced at the panel and there was some confusion about day so some people might be turning up. If the room is in use, we could have an ad hoc meetup somewhere else (the Conservatory is quite nice). I'm not sure where in the building we could get anything printed or even just a piece of paper, but if someone else can organise that, go ahead. Nevertheless, the real meetup is still on Saturday. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 16:22, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the room was free but there was no one around, so there was no issue after all. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 17:55, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
AdamBMorgan, thanks for letting know. Unfortunately I noticed this too late, came to Fubrisher 5, around 18:50, but there's noone. Just in case, I'll leave a paper on a desk.--Xelgen (talk) 18:00, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
