Abstract (at least 300 words to describe your proposal)

UAVs are a new way to take aerial photographs. Originally used only by the military, civilian UAVs are growing rapidly and allow you to obtain aerial quality photos for a reduced cost. The french chapter Wikimedia France has contacted ToucanWings, a French organisation specialized in this field and proposed the making of aerial photographs of the Palace of Versailles under a partnership agreement signed a few years ago with the palace. A shooting session was organized during the summer of 2013 and we were able to published more than 150 photos of the castle and the park of Versailles on Wikimedia Commons. This presentation will detail the implementation of this shooting, the challenges and technical details of the making of these pictures. We will also present our plans for the future of Free aerial photography.
